Because we know she’s going to be bed ridden and it’s going to take a toll on her overall health and on us too as her caregivers, when my grandmother had a terrible stroke that left half of her body paralyzed, we were devastated. But she told us that she is determined to conquer her medical conditions, though we prepared her for a life of difficulties moving around and being dependent to caregivers for simple movement. For her to undergo physical therapy is something she asked, with her doctor’s approval of course and she know that it’s going to be a tough process but she has faith that everything will play out well for her. We are relieved and overjoyed with her perseverance that even a tragic stroke didn’t dampen her spirit and she is still the driven and strong grandmother we knew. After we got her doctor’s approval and recommendation, we put her under physical therapy immediately so she can develop her strength and relearn basic movements again. Which give her a sense of purpose to push herself harder, she tried really hard to keep up with her training and we were very proud to see her making progress daily. She showed tremendous improvement that she was able to firmly sit unattended after a month and later on she began to slowly walk again with the aid of a walker. To make her more comfortable considering what she’s going through with her physical therapists session, we decided to buy her an expensive leather lift chair on her birthday. These lift chairs are designed to aid handicapped people, the elderly or people who need assistance in standing or reclining properly because it is motorized, which makes the whole chair with the occupant in it move into a position you instruct the machine to do.
